Little Cryptid Compass part 2
Why Cryptids?
The answer wasn’t just creative—it was personal for both of them.
Neurodivergence often comes with a strange kind of visibility:
Sometimes you blend in
Sometimes you stand out
Sometimes people don’t believe your experience at all
That experience mirrors something familiar:
Cryptids.
Misunderstood.
Debated.
Dismissed.
Sometimes believed—sometimes not.
So they asked:
What if cryptids were real?
What if they had to learn how to communicate, regulate, and connect?
And what if kids could learn alongside them?
The Birth of Howl to Human
That question became a system.
Then a story.
Then a series.
“Howl to Human” was created as a bridge between:
Instruction and imagination
Therapy and storytelling
Structure and creativity
Each story:
Teaches a real, usable skill
Breaks it into clear steps
Shows it in action
Makes it something kids can actually practice
Not just something they hear once and forget.
What Little Cryptid Compass Is Now
Little Cryptid Compass is the result of:
A therapist who saw what worked—but didn’t stick
A creator who made things work—even when nothing was designed to
Two neurodivergent adults
Raising two neurodivergent kids
Across careers, systems, and environments that didn’t always fit
It’s built on one core idea:
Learning should be structured enough to use—and human enough to stick.
The Bigger Mission
This isn’t just about books.
It’s about building tools that:
Make skills understandable
Make learning feel safe
Make differences feel seen
And maybe most importantly:
Help kids (and adults) feel like they don’t have to become someone else to be understood.
Because whether you feel human, cryptid, or somewhere in between—
You’re not the problem.
You just needed better tools.
